1. Garudasana, 2. forward fold,

If you used to follow the old blog you know that I practice SwáSthya Yôga at Unidade das Antas since April this year.
The evolution has been huge! Still, there is and will always be a long way to go... but the interesting part of the journey is precisely the sense of constant discovery that it brings.
In the last class I achieved something I'd never before: I made shírshásana (one of the headstand) on my own at the end of class. Some get it easily... but not me. First I needed to lose my fear, then I had to become more aware of my body and finally to maintain balance. This one is still precarious, but the step is taken!
And the sensation of lightness while performing the Ásana was incredible, feeling the blood coming down from my feet towards the rest of the body... doing it with help is good, but so totally focused on myself, was much more rewarding.
To celebrate, this week I dedicate the theme of the mosaic to Ásana (body postures), one of eight Angas that compose the Ashtánga Sádhana.
Enjoy and check out more mosaics here!
Beautiful and inspiring! I should really get back into doing Yoga.
ReplyDeleteOf course you do! It's really rewarding :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the mosaic but even more the story behind it! BIG congrats on reaching that level, anapina!
ReplyDeleteAhum, I did yoga once but fainted and had a concussion & since then I haven't done it! ;)
I should start again I think! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you Mitsy! I really felt it like a great achievement :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should try it again, but should be careful though... Yoga should give you pleasure and not a concussion! ;)
I love yoga. I stopped at the beginning of the year jsut after a year of doing Ashtanga... loved it. my schedule is a bit crazy now and I miss is so much. I did manage to do the head stand too... and I had just a feeling of acomplishment! I think fear was my biggest detractor there.
ReplyDeleteLovely mosaic!
Yes, fear is the hardest to overcome... but in time everything can be reached :)
ReplyDeleteI love practising yôga too, I can imagine how you miss it now!
Wow congratulation!
ReplyDeleteI did yoga only during my pregnancy and I loved it. it helped me a lot with the breathing. I followed a indian method for giving birth which is based on self ipnoses and concentration, Very interesting.
