Another year is coming to an end!
2018 was a year that culminated in a great change: the atelier came down from the second floor of number 27 of Rua de Cedofeita and found a new space closer to the public, in Centro Comercial Bombarda, shop 25.
It is inevitable that New Year's wishes will focus on Tincal lab and the desire to make this community grow, with more public, more meetings, exhibitions and workshops.

On my brand Ana Pina  throughout 2018, I launched new collections, answered interviews, took Gula to Casa da Arquitectura and was selected for the initiative Portuguese Jewellery x MAAT.

But not only work makes the year: in 2018 I got to know Berlin and Piódão, I turned 38 in the company of an incredible soundtrack, I saw exhibitions and films, I read new books. And beyond the big and necessary accomplishments, what I'm most interested in celebrating are these little things that make everyday life worthwhile.

I have been thinking a lot about the continuity of this blog... it has been a way of promoting my work and recording what inspires me for almost 10 years, but with the evolution of social networks and the greater professional demands, the posts and visits to this little corner have been less and less, so instead of letting it fade I'll take a break and leave you for now with a see you soon.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Toda a colecção disponível aqui.

The newest Orpheu Collection is finally available in the online shop!
An abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Robert Delaunay’s compositions results in a collection that plays with combinations of segments of circumferences in geometric pieces that love to be combined with each other.

In ancient Greece, Orpheus, legendary musician and poet, was known for being able to charm all living - and even inanimate - beings with the divine music of his lyre.
In the beginning of the 20th century the term Orphism was used to describe a particular kind of cubism developed by the couple Delaunay, that aimed to convey music through painting.
As symbol of the ability of arts to inspire each other, Orpheus is now present in this jewelry collection: an abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Delaunay’s compositions - a composition to be heard as a symphony, admired as a painting, worn as a jewel.

Orpheu - instead of Orfeu or Orpheus -, also, as a form of homage.
All collection available here.

The visit to Bauhaus was definitely one of the highlights of the trip to Berlin.
About 2 hours by train from Berlin, the Dessau train station is a 10-minute walk from the amazing Bauhaus building designed by Walter Gropius in 1925. Founder and director of the school since 1919, while still in Weimar, left on 1928, five years before the definitive closure, result of the imposition of the National Socialist government.
Over the 14 years of its existence the Bauhaus revolutionised the way we view society - more than a school of architecture, art and design, it was a symbol of change and modernity, it sought to unite arts and industry, creating a teaching system based on experimentation, influencing artistic and social areas up to the present day.

Today in Dessau you can visit several buildings linked to the Bauhaus, the most important being the school building and the Masters' Houses - a set of houses also designed by Gropius, where some of the teachers lived with their family. Two of the volumes, destroyed during the war, were rebuilt in 2014 by Bruno Fioretti Marquez, in a kind of abstract homage to the past that doesn't return.

Impossible not to feel inspired in a place where so much happened, where have been names like Walter Gropius, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Josef Albers, Marcel Breuer or Mies van der Rohe. It seems incredible that 100 years later the Bauhaus legacy remains as alive, as surprising and extraordinary as ever. It's worth to breathe this magic in Dessau.

In 2019 will be celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of Bauhaus, there will be a new Museum in Dessau, renovated Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin and many activities - it will undoubtedly be a great opportunity for a visit, or perhaps a return!
