The newest Orpheu Collection is finally available in the online shop!

An abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Robert Delaunay’s compositions results in a collection that plays with combinations of segments of circumferences in geometric pieces that love to be combined with each other.

A mais recente Colecção Orla foi apresentada pela primeira vez ao público há cerca de um ano, na inauguração da iD Concept - na altura eram apenas quatro as peças inspiradas na arquitectura da Casa Rolão, edifício barroco que se destaca na Avenida Central, em Braga.

Um ano depois, a colecção cresceu e apresenta agora um conjunto de peças versáteis e facilmente combináveis entre si, num exercício de abstracção contemporânea de inspiração Barroca.

Ovais pontuam o centro das bandeiras das portas de entrada na Casa Rolão lembrando camafeus.

São agora transportadas para a joalharia através da abstracção geométrica, que simplifica os rendilhados, estiliza os contornos e reinterpreta o pontilhado em ferro através da repetição concêntrica de linhas desenhadas com pontos vazios que evocam a sua ausência.

The most recent Orla Collection was first presented to the public about a year ago in the opening of iD Concept - at that time there were only four pieces inspired by the architecture of Casa Rolão, a baroque building that stands out on Avenida Central in Braga (Portugal).

A year later, the collection grew and now features a set of versatile and easily combinable pieces in an exercise of contemporary abstraction of Baroque inspiration.

Ovals punctuate the center of the tops of the entrance doors in Casa Rolão, resembling cameos.

They are now transported to jewelry through geometric abstraction, which simplifies the lacework, stylizes the contours and reinterprets the dotted iron by the concentric repetition of lines drawn with empty dots that evoke their absence.

All pieces are now available in the online shop!

Tubular Collection

A nova Colecção Tubular combina fios e tubos de secção redonda de forma subtil, dando origem a peças simultaneamente minimalistas e capazes de se destacar, que celebram linhas geométricas puras e as suas múltiplas possibilidades de combinação.

Traços simples estruturam uma quadrícula tridimensional imaginária que é desconstruída num jogo de cheios e vazios que tem como base a combinação de 4 medidas distintas que se complementam (1, 2, 3 e 4 cm).

A racionalidade dos alinhamentos ortogonais é desafiada pelo carácter mutável do movimento e pela aparente ideia de que as ligações entre os diferentes elementos é frágil e imprevisível, o que acentua a sensação de que qualquer combinação é possível - desde o elemento isolado mais simples até ao infinito.

Se estão no Porto podem também vê-la ao vivo na scar-id e na Loja de Serralves. Se forem a Bruxelas visitem-na na galeria ICKX.

E é com muito gosto que, depois de ter sido seleccionada para participar na Autor, uma das mais importantes feiras internacionais de joalharia contemporânea na Europa, irei apresentá-la em Bucareste no fim-de-semana de 13 e 14 de Maio. Yay! Vemo-nos lá!

The new Tubular Collection combines round wires and tubes in a subtle way, creating both minimalist and statement pieces that aim to celebrate pure geometric lines and its multiple possibilities of combination.

Simple traces structure an imaginary three-dimensional grid that is deconstructed in a game of filled and empty spaces that is based on the combination of 4 distinct measures that complement each other (1, 2, 3 and 4 cm).

The rationality of orthogonal alignments is challenged by the mutable character of movement and by the seeming idea that the connections between the different elements are fragile and unpredictable, which accentuates the sense that any combination is possible - from the simplest isolated element to infinity.

Jewelry and Architecture challenge | Modular Collection

O desafio Joalharia e Arquitectura foi lançado pelo Tincal lab a joalheiros de todo o mundo: a criação de até 3 peças de joalharia com preço até 50€, inspiradas pelo tema da arquitectura.

Também eu criei um conjunto de peças especialmente para responder ao desafio, que provavelmente servirão de inspiração para o lançamento de uma nova colecção em 2016: a Modular Collection.

Desenhei um conjunto de pendentes e anéis em prata, com acabamento parcialmente oxidado, inspirado nas relações geométricas de elementos arquitectónicos, explorando princípios de simetria, estrutura e equilíbrio. Leiam o texto de conceito para saber mais:

A arquitecura é composta por uma combinação de repetições e gestos excepcionais. Elementos reconhecíveis e a surpresa do inesperado - ou como algo familiar pode de repente surpreender-nos. A geometria não é sempre óbvia e a perspectiva pode enganar-nos. A complexidade pode estar escondida na solução aparentemente mais simples - é nesse momento que se percebe que a gravidade nem sempre nos suporta e o peso pode ser leve.

Como na fachada da Torre Burgo (Porto, Souto de Moura, 2006) uma mudança de perspectiva pode mudar tudo.

O fantástico resultado do desafio estará em exposição no Tincal lab até ao final do ano.

The challenge Jewelry and Architecture was presented by Tincal lab to jewelers from all over the world: the creation of up to 3 jewelry pieces with the maximum price of 50€, inspired by the theme of architecture.

I've also created a series of pieces specially for the challenge, that will probably inspire a new collection to be launched in 2016: the Modular Collection.

I designed a couple of pendants and rings in silver, partially oxidised, inspired in the geometric relations of architectonic elements, exploring concepts of symmetry, structure and balance. Read the concept text to know more:

Architecture is made from a combination of repetition and exceptional gestures. Recognizable elements and the surprise of the unexpected – or how something familiar can suddenly surprise us. Geometry isn’t always obvious and perspective can trick us. Complexity can be hidden in the most apparently simple solution - that’s when you realize that gravity doesn’t always support us and heaviness can be light.

Like in Burgo Tower facade (Porto, Souto de Moura, 2006) a change of perspective, can change it all.

The amazing result of the challenge is on display at Tincal lab until the end of the year.

Clone Collection - uma questão de escala.

Inspirado pela peça criada em exclusivo para o projecto Jewellery Meets Illustration, nasceu um exército de clones, através da combinação do corpo de plástico das miniaturas habitualmente usadas em maquetes de arquitectura e uma cabeça em prata -  um estado híbrido que permite um objecto transformar-se em jóia.

Por enquanto, é uma série de brincos, todos diferentes e vendidos em separado, deixados em branco ou pintados com esmalte preto, protegidos por uma camada de verniz transparente com brilho, com a cabeça e espigão em prata 925.

Clone Collection - a matter of scale.

Inspired by the piece created in exclusive for the project Jewellery Meets Illustration, an army of clones is born: combining the plastic body of  the miniatures usually used in architectural models with a head in silver - an hybrid state that allows the object to become jewel.

For now, it's a series of earrings, all different and sold separately, left white or painted with black enamel, protected by a thin layer of transparent glossy varnish, with head and pin in sterling silver.

They are already available in the shop - just pick up your favorite!

Nos últimos tempos tenho andado mais ocupada a pensar em novidades do que em fotografá-las e apresentá-las ao público... mas ando a trabalhar para compensar isso!

Lately I've been more busy thinking about new designs than photographing and presenting them to the public ... but I'm now working to make up for it!

The Minimal Collection timidly emerged at the end of last year - those who passed by CRU (a Porto based lovely shop) in recent months already had the opportunity to see some of these jewels there - but only now they're also available in the online shop. 

Lines and dots are the basis of a collection that, as the name implies, is composed of simple, delicate and discrete pieces - minimalist, but special enough to stand out.

Não é a primeira vez que o pedido de uma cliente se transforma numa nova peça da colecção.

Desta vez, uma cliente alemã, depois de comprar o anel da Flora Collection, perguntou-me se poderia fazer-lhe um par de brincos também inspirados nas folhas Ginkgo Biloba, mas teriam que ser mini.

O resultado ficou bem melhor do que eu esperava e as reacções foram tão positivas que decidi colocá-los na loja.

This is not the first time that the request of a client becomes a new jewel of the collection. 

This time, a German customer, after buying the ring from Flora Collection, asked me if I could make her a pair of stud earrings also inspired by Ginkgo Biloba leaves, but they would have to be really tiny. 

The result was better than I expected and the reactions were so positive that I decided to make them available in the shop.
