Uma interpretação abstracta e minimalista do ritmo sem fim dos movimentos circulares das composições de Robert Delaunay resulta numa colecção que brinca com combinações de segmentos de circunferências em peças geométricas que adoram ser combinadas entre si.

Na Grécia antiga, Orfeu, poeta e músico lendário, era conhecido por ser capaz de encantar todos os seres vivos - e mesmo os inanimados - com a divina música da sua lira.

No início do século XX, o termo Orfismo foi usado para descrever um tipo particular de cubismo desenvolvido pelo casal Delaunay, que ambicionava transmitir a música através da pintura.

Símbolo da capacidade das artes de se inspirarem mutuamente, Orfeu está agora presente nesta colecção de joalharia: uma interpretação abstracta e minimalista do ritmo sem fim dos movimentos circulares das composições de Delaunay - uma composição para ser ouvida como uma sinfonia, admirada como uma pintura, usada como uma jóia.

Orpheu - em vez de Orfeu ou Orpheus -, também, em forma de homenagem.

The newest Orpheu Collection is finally available in the online shop!

An abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Robert Delaunay’s compositions results in a collection that plays with combinations of segments of circumferences in geometric pieces that love to be combined with each other.

In ancient Greece, Orpheus, legendary musician and poet, was known for being able to charm all living - and even inanimate - beings with the divine music of his lyre. 

In the beginning of the 20th century the term Orphism was used to describe a particular kind of cubism developed by the couple Delaunay, that aimed to convey music through painting.

E foi assim a inauguração da Remade X, no passado dia 28, na fantástica Casa da Arquitectura, em Matosinhos!

É com muito prazer que vejo a minha GULA seleccionada para esta edição comemorativa do Remade em Portugal, um projecto que tenta sensibilizar os criadores e o público para as questões ambientais, através de exposições periódicas que levam princípios de reciclagem e reutilização para as áreas da arte e design.

Nesta X edição o cenário não podia ter sido mais bem escolhido e eu não poderia sentir-me em melhor companhia, entre criações de nomes como Álvaro Siza, Souto de Moura, Ana Salazar ou Luís Buchinho - todos aqui.

And it was like this the opening of Remade X, last 28th, in the amazing Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos!

It is with great pleasure that I see my GULA selected for this commemorative edition of Remade em Portugal  a project that tries to draw the attention of creators and the public to environmental issues, through periodic exhibitions that take principles of recycling and reutilization to the areas of art and design.

In this X edition the scenario couldn't have been better chosen and I couldn't feel in better company, among creations of names like Álvaro Siza, Souto de Moura, Ana Salazar or Luís Buchinho - all here.

A mais recente Colecção Orla foi apresentada pela primeira vez ao público há cerca de um ano, na inauguração da iD Concept - na altura eram apenas quatro as peças inspiradas na arquitectura da Casa Rolão, edifício barroco que se destaca na Avenida Central, em Braga.

Um ano depois, a colecção cresceu e apresenta agora um conjunto de peças versáteis e facilmente combináveis entre si, num exercício de abstracção contemporânea de inspiração Barroca.

Ovais pontuam o centro das bandeiras das portas de entrada na Casa Rolão lembrando camafeus.

São agora transportadas para a joalharia através da abstracção geométrica, que simplifica os rendilhados, estiliza os contornos e reinterpreta o pontilhado em ferro através da repetição concêntrica de linhas desenhadas com pontos vazios que evocam a sua ausência.

The most recent Orla Collection was first presented to the public about a year ago in the opening of iD Concept - at that time there were only four pieces inspired by the architecture of Casa Rolão, a baroque building that stands out on Avenida Central in Braga (Portugal).

A year later, the collection grew and now features a set of versatile and easily combinable pieces in an exercise of contemporary abstraction of Baroque inspiration.

Ovals punctuate the center of the tops of the entrance doors in Casa Rolão, resembling cameos.

They are now transported to jewelry through geometric abstraction, which simplifies the lacework, stylizes the contours and reinterprets the dotted iron by the concentric repetition of lines drawn with empty dots that evoke their absence.

All pieces are now available in the online shop!

Com o principal objectivo de mostrar a qualidade e diversidade da joalharia contemporânea, o Tincal lab convidou joalheiros de todo o mundo para um desafio: a criação de até 3 peças com o preço máximo de 100€, inspiradas pelo tema Joalharia e Música.

Quase 40 autores de cerca de 18 países foram seleccionados e o resultado poderá ser visto na fantástica exposição colectiva que inaugura no Tincal lab a 11 de Novembro!

With the main objective to show the quality and diversity of contemporary jewelry, Tincal lab invited jewelers from around the world for a challenge: the creation of up to 3 pieces with a maximum price of 100€, inspired by the theme Jewelry and Music.

Almost 40 authors from about 18 countries were selected and the result can be seen in this amazing collective exhibition that opens at Tincal lab on 11th of November!

As a participant and curator of this unique event, I invite you to visit Tincal lab next Saturday between 3pm and 8pm, at Rua de Cedofeita, 27, 2nd floor front, in Porto.

Desta vez o aniversário foi celebrado de maneira diferente!

17 de Junho coincidiu com a data de Open Day no Tincal lab, por isso este dia acabou por ser um 2 em 1, entre a passagem dos meus 37 anos e a celebração do segundo aniversário do atelier, que abriu mais ou menos por esta altura em 2015. Lembram-se?

Foi um dia de muito calor, flores, bolo, brindes, surpresas e visitas de amigos.

Posso ter estado no meu local de trabalho, mas foi sem dúvida um dia de festa!

E quem não pôde vir brindar connosco no Sábado pode agora visitar a exposição colectiva Branco | White durante a semana, entre as 10h e as 19h. Estamos na Rua de Cedofeita, 27, 2º frente. Até já!

This time my birthday was celebrated in a different way!

June 17th coincided with the Open Day at Tincal lab, so this day ended up being a 2 in 1, between the passage of my 37 years and the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the atelier, that opened around this date on 2015. Remember?

It was a hot day, filled with flowers, cake, toasts, surprises and visits from friends.

I may have been at my place of work, but it was definitely a party day!

100 Days of Women is an initiative of Edite Felgueiras, which puts into practice the international initiative created by the artist Elle Luna that invites to make something creative every day for 100 days: The 100 Day Project.

For this challenge it will be presented a series of 100 interviews to 100 Portuguese women with professional or parallel projects that connect and inspire other women to follow their dreams.

It is therefore a pride for me to have received this invitation!

A ida à AUTOR, feira internacional de joalharia contemporânea, em Bucareste, foi sem dúvida o principal motivo para esta viagem. Mas daí a juntar esta inspiradora experiência profissional a umas mini-férias, com direito a passeios por Milão, Bucareste e Transilvânia, foi um passo!

Em breve falarei do resto, mas para começar, trago-vos fotos e o feedback da participação neste incrível evento dedicado em exclusivo ao mundo da joalharia de autor - uma das três feiras do género na Europa.

Cerca de 90 autores de todo o mundo expuseram as suas mais recentes colecções no Grand Hotel du Boulevard, no centro de Bucareste, no fim-de-semana de 13 e 14 de Maio.

O edifício é fantástico, com dois espaços que contrastam entre si: um branco, de linhas modernas, o outro exuberante na decoração barroca - foi neste último que fiquei, pronta a apresentar a minha Colecção Tubular ao público romeno. A organização do evento revelou-se fantástica em todos os aspectos, desde a imagem irreverente e cheia de personalidade, até à simpatia e apoio dado ao longo do evento. O público, afável e interessado, encheu o espaço e manteve os autores ocupados durante todo o fim-de-semana, enquanto conversava, fazia questões, experimentava as peças... foi uma refrescante experiência e muito gratificante receber o feedback positivo do público!

Para terminar, uma conferência em jeito de conversa informal e uma after party na Segunda, ajudaram a descontrair e ao convívio entre colegas.

Foi um fim-de-semana cansativo, mas pleno de boas energias! Parabéns à organização e um muito obrigado a todos os que, entre tantos trabalhos fantásticos, escolheram uma peça de joalharia minha para levar para casa!

Taking part in AUTOR, the international contemporary jewelry fair in Bucharest, was undoubtedly the main reason for this trip. But then, adding this inspiring professional experience to a mini-vacation, entitled to tours around Milan, Bucharest and Transylvania, was a step!

Soon I'll tell you about the rest, but to begin with, I'll bring you some photos and feedback on attending this incredible event dedicated exclusively to the world of contemporary jewelry - one of the three fairs of its kind in Europe.

Around 90 authors from around the world were exhibiting their latest collections at the Grand Hotel du Boulevard in central Bucharest on the weekend of 13th and 14th of May.

The building is fantastic, with two contrasting spaces: a white one, with modern lines, the other luxurious in baroque decoration - I was in the latter, ready to present my Tubular Collection to the Romanian public. The organization of the event has been fantastic in every aspect, from the irreverent and striking image, to the sympathy and support given throughout the event. The audience, affable and interested, filled the space and kept the authors busy all weekend, while talking, asking questions, trying the pieces... it was a refreshing experience and very gratifying to receive the positive feedback from the audience!

In the end, an informal conference and an after-party on Monday helped to relax and socialize with colleagues.

It was a tiring weekend, but full of good energy! Congratulations to the organization and a big thank you to all of you who, among so many fantastic artists, have chosen one of my jewelry pieces to take home!

Hoje estou de partida!

É com muito gosto que estarei presente a apresentar a minha mais recente Colecção Tubular na 16ª edição da Autor, uma das três feiras europeias dedicadas à joalharia contemporânea.

Este evento decorre no Grand Hotel du Boulevard, em Bucareste, no fim-de-semana de 13 e 14 de Maio e tem como mote apelar aos sentidos através do maravilhoso universo da joalharia contemporânea.

Ouve, toca e adquire o gosto pela joalharia contemporânea, um universo sensorial único.

Estou certa de que será uma fantástica forma de promover o meu trabalho enquanto conheço também pessoalmente artistas que já sigo online e admiro há algum tempo!

Juntando o trabalho ao lazer, aproveito para partir um pouco mais cedo e fazer escala em Milão e também para ficar um pouco mais por Bucareste e partir à descoberta da Transilvânia... se quiserem acompanhem as minhas aventuras dos próximos dias no instagram.

Estarei de volta ao atelier a 17 de Maio, por isso não se admirem se demorar um pouco mais do que o habitual a responder a emails e encomendas. Até já!

Today I'm leaving!

It's a pleasure to announce that I'll be presenting my newest Tubular Collection at 16th edition of Autor, one of the three European fairs dedicated to contemporary jewelry.

This great event happens at Grand Hotel du Boulevard, in Bucharest, on the weekend of 13-14th May and has as motto to train your senses through the wonderful world of contemporary jewelry.

Listen, touch and acquire taste for contemporary jewelry, a one-of-a-king sensory universe.

I'm sure it will be a great way to promote my work and also get to know so many incredible artists that I already follow online and will now be able to meet in person!

Putting together work and leisure, I'm leaving a bit earlier to make a stop in Milan and will also be staying a bit longer in Bucharest to make time to discover some of Transylvania... if you want to follow my adventures over the next few days just keep an eye on my instagram.

I'll be back in the atelier on May 17th, so don't be surprised if I take a little longer than usual to answer to emails and orders. See you soon!

Tubular Collection

A nova Colecção Tubular combina fios e tubos de secção redonda de forma subtil, dando origem a peças simultaneamente minimalistas e capazes de se destacar, que celebram linhas geométricas puras e as suas múltiplas possibilidades de combinação.

Traços simples estruturam uma quadrícula tridimensional imaginária que é desconstruída num jogo de cheios e vazios que tem como base a combinação de 4 medidas distintas que se complementam (1, 2, 3 e 4 cm).

A racionalidade dos alinhamentos ortogonais é desafiada pelo carácter mutável do movimento e pela aparente ideia de que as ligações entre os diferentes elementos é frágil e imprevisível, o que acentua a sensação de que qualquer combinação é possível - desde o elemento isolado mais simples até ao infinito.

A colecção já está disponível na loja online!

Se estão no Porto podem também vê-la ao vivo na scar-id e na Loja de Serralves. Se forem a Bruxelas visitem-na na galeria ICKX.

The new Tubular Collection combines round wires and tubes in a subtle way, creating both minimalist and statement pieces that aim to celebrate pure geometric lines and its multiple possibilities of combination.

Simple traces structure an imaginary three-dimensional grid that is deconstructed in a game of filled and empty spaces that is based on the combination of 4 distinct measures that complement each other (1, 2, 3 and 4 cm).

The rationality of orthogonal alignments is challenged by the mutable character of movement and by the seeming idea that the connections between the different elements are fragile and unpredictable, which accentuates the sense that any combination is possible - from the simplest isolated element to infinity.

The new Singular Collection is made up of a set of unique pieces that are for now exclusively in POP UP 8x8, the store number 8 of Galerias Lumiére in Porto, that I showed you here.

As contour lines that land on the body, organic shapes in different metals draw memories of abstract and unique landscapes.

Jewellery Meets Illustration + Joalharia na Casa Rolão

E foram assim os eventos de Sábado passado!

No Tincal lab, o Open Day contou com a presença da Áurea Praga, curadora da exposição que inaugurou: Jewellery Meets Illustration, uma mostra de alguns dos trabalhos que integraram a exposição apresentada originalmente na Ó Galeria em Maio de 2015.

Agora continuam a poder visitar a exposição aqui no atelier, de Segunda a Sexta, entre as 10h e as 19h, até dia 9 de Novembro.

Em Braga, a grande festa de inauguração da iD Concept Store, brilhou com a presença de muitos visitantes, incluindo muitas das autoras que aceitaram o convite de participar na exposição Joalharia na Casa Rolão.

Enquanto participante e curadora fiquei orgulhosa com o fantástico trabalho de todas as joalheiras e contente por ter sido tão bem recebida neste belíssimo espaço! Um muito obrigada e parabéns a todos!

And Saturday was like this!

At Tincal lab, the Open Day had the presence of Áurea Praga, curator of the exhibition that opened: Jewellery Meets Illustration, a selection of some of the works presented originally at Ó Galeria in May 2015.

Now you can still visit the exhibition here at the atelier from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 7pm, until November 9th.

In Braga, the great celebration of the opening of iD Concept Store was highlighted with the presence of many people, including most of the authors who accepted the invitation to take part in the exhibition Joalharia na Casa Rolão (Jewelry at Rolão House).

As participant and curator I was really proud of the fantastic work by all of the jewelers and happy to have been so well received in this beautiful space! A big thank you and congratulations to all!
