Às vezes a realidade pode parecer algo abstracta. Não é só porque sonhamos acordados, porque vemos coisas onde não existem ou encontramos significados nos acontecimentos mais insignificantes. É também porque o mundo que nos rodeia não é necessariamente uma tela realista, representativa de uma natureza morta ou de um instantâneo irrepetível, gravado por uma lente de fotógrafo. É também porque os nossos olhos podem ver através de uma lente como se a realidade fosse aquilo que quisessem: escolhendo planos, alterando o ângulo de visão, focando detalhes, desfocando luzes e cores, extraindo pormenores de um todo que talvez fosse compreensível se o mostrássemos - mas tão mais monótono.
Às vezes gosto de fotografar partes de fachadas, isolar pormenores imperceptíveis, texturas de diferentes pavimentos que se encontram - olhando para os meus flickr favorites vejo que não sou a única - e ainda bem.

Sometimes reality can seem somewhat abstract. It's not just because we daydream, because we see things where they don't exist, because we find meaning in the most insignificant events. It's also because the world around us is not necessarily a realistic canvas, representing a still life or an unrepeatable flash, recorded by a photographer's lens. It's also because our eyes can see through a lens as if reality was what they wanted it to be: choosing plans, changing the vision angle, focusing on details, blurring lights and colors, extracting details of a whole which might be understandable if showed - but so much more monotonous.
Sometimes I like to shoot parts of facades, isolate imperceptible details, textures of different pavements which intersect - looking at my flickr favorites I see that I'm not the only one - thankfully.
