PT

This time the postman brought me a scented envelope loaded with surprises! I think if he imagined the treasures that carries he would live much happier, because it's also thanks to him that I open the mailbox with a smile on days like this.
Sunshine talks with us in the evening on her blog, filled with sweet moments, heartfelt words and of strength, even when reality is not as sweet as we'd want to.
I sent my humble letter to Sunshine over a year ago (time goes by fast!), but she definitely compensated the wait with extra goodies, I doubt any word of thanks would be enough!

I loved every little detail of poetry, art and nature... including the lovely kittens that are already on the wall of favorites with the rest of the collection. Thank you my dear Sunshine!

I met Manuela a few months ago through the web, when she wrote me saying she'd found an Italian version of IKEA Family Live magazine featuring my home. She already followed my blog, offered to send me a copy and since then we've been in contact, exchanging interesting tips on arts and crafts.

Manuela is a Portuguese living in Antwerp - a city I'd love to visit one day! - and besides having a great pleasure sharing with other creatives things that she knows and loves, she also creates accessories and objects in which imagination and reuse reigns, in her project Ik en Blik.

This time Manuela decided to fill me with treats again and sent me a lovely surprise box!
Among the perfume of a flavored tea, arrived some materials to explore in my work, friendly words and delicious details... thank you Manuela!

What better way to start the day? Open the mailbox to find an envelope coming from France stuffed with good surprises... dreamy boats, lots of color, lots of magic, the sweetness of a chocolate and friendly words... and even a bit of the beauty of Chartres - I wish I could go there to visit the Cathedral!

Carla surprised me with so many treats: I loved the kittens, the picture of a sky that makes you dream, the delicious handmade clouds (I'm already using them to place the cups, here in my workspace!) and an advice: laugh, laugh often... With all these surprises is not difficult to keep a big smile on my face - thank you Carla!

Colectivo de Melhoramentos

Friday, 25 January 2013

When I sent a letter to Cristina with small treasures, I never imagined the treasures I would get back, from the hands of Colectivo de Melhoramentos (in English, something like: Collective of Improvements).
It was just before Christmas that I got the surprise in my mailbox and I opened it as a child who receives an early gift... Delicious all the details, from the card on which the letter was written, the inspiring handmade notebook and pencil, the candle with the original support in cement and the calendar appealing, and well, to the use of seasonal products. Better yet: the pieces of forest that they like to collect while walking and will certainly inspire me a lot in future creations.

The Colectivo de Melhoramentos is a creative studio of four hands that seem to gather the best of what its founders have to offer, each with a different, but complementary, background: Cristina - communication designer - and David - architect .
They aspire to intervene locally and provide answers to specific problems, taking advantage of the richness of local knowledge, small scale and artisanal production.
The newly opened online store presents unique products of conscious production, which notes a great care for aesthetics and choice of materials. Have you looked at the cement house with book roof or the square / triangle table? ... I have and I wouldn't mind to have them here at home!

I loved all your treasuries and I can only thank you wishing you all the success in the world!

Still in 2012 I got some nice surprises in the mailbox, right in time for Christmas... it feels so good to receive gifts from far away!
Luck has been by my side and I was the happy winner of a giveaway Libelinha launched at her facebook page when it reached 1000 likes in December - congratulations! I got a sweet Libetree handmade by Sara and as she didn't want to make Frida jealous, she sent her a little treat too... as you can see in the photo Frida loved it and didn't take long to shred it to pieces with so much fun. Thank you Sara! Get to know Libelinha Design work right here.

Then, it was the time to be spoiled with treats sent by Anca, from Bucharest. Some lovely Christmas ornaments, lots of nice postcards to my collection (I can already picture that japanese illustration hanging in a special place of my inspiration wall), a beautiful handwritting and many delicious details that left me with a big smile on my face... thank you my dear Anca!
Do you like to get snail mail too? Then have a look here.

... and a happy new year!

This week between Christmas and New Year's Eve always seems to me like a so much needed gap in time -  even though I usually like to take these days to rest and put some things in order before a new fase in the calendar arrives, this year I've been busier that ever! In a few weeks I'll let you know why... but in the meantime, I leave you with some happy moments of the last days:

+ the blue Frida's eyes, at peace.
+ surprises in the mailbox that have made me so happy, especially in this season of festivity and sharing... thank you so much for all the sweet treats Andreia!
+ a nice Christmas table full of sweets, colors and joy!

I wish you all a prosperous 2013!

Obrigada Judit!

After launching the letters challenge, my mailbox has been so much happy!
Last week, Joana sent me an envelope filled with some of the surprises I love the most... friendly words, nice postcards, good music and even a special treat handmade by her. Thank you Joana!

And, as if this wasn't enough, luck hit on my door again and I was the happy winner of another giveaway!
It was a joy to see my name appear has the winner of October giveaway at European Street Team blog, especially because the prize was a necklace by an artist I follow and admire for a long time: Judit Wild, from Vadjutka.
Judit is the author of a colorful and very feminine jewelry line, in which she plays with metals and fabrics in a very original way. I got a beautiful necklace from the Ancestors Collection, where you can see an ancient photograph of Judit's great grandmother, Janka, printed on fabric. I love the delicacy of the piece and the details... am I lucky or what?... Thank you Judit!

Oh, e as andorinhas... o meu pequeno detalhe favorito. Obrigada Sílvia!

And Sílvia decided to spoil me with treats! Flavours from Mexico and China, inspiring words, wings to fly, a beautiful photo from Lisbon - her town - and delicious postcards, that I can already picture framed! I particularly like the A Clockwork Orange postcard, a book that I really enjoyed reading a few years ago.
Oh, and the swallows... my favorite little detail. Thank you Sílvia!

letter | from Lisa Kinoo

O tempo e as cartas escassearam...

I like to write.
I like to receive and send letters.
When I was younger I used to have pen pals from all over the world and that made me feel richer.
Then the email arrived. Time and letters became scarce...

A while ago I discovered the inspiring blog by Lisa Kinoo and her passion for receiving and sending letters. I couldn't resist and sent her an email - after that I got a wonderful surprise in the mail box!
I sent her one back and, inspired by this exchange, I decided to recover that old habit to smile when opening the mail box. I even created a page in the blog to document it (have a look at the right sidebar!).
So... if you want to receive a letter filled with little treasuries and write me one in return, send me an email to atelier@anapina.com
See you in the mail!
