A oferta do site é acessível, interessante e bastante variada.

Aproveitem!

This is far from being a fashion blog, but it's not the first time that I write here about products that I like or use, especially when they have to do with the handmande universe, design and contemporary artists.
This time Firmoo offered me something different: to publish a review about a pair of sunglasses of the brand. Although it's not a usual thing for me to do and I don't intend to turn it into a habit, as this is an article that often accompanies me in the wallet these days of sunshine, I thought: why not?

The offer on the site is quite accessible, interesting and varied. I took the oppportunity to choose a model that I wanted for a while: a reinterpretation of a classic, with plastic frame, in tortoise. I was afraid to order glasses online, because it's pretty hard to choose a model for me even live... but even though I have a slim face and most of the eyeglasses seem too large for me, I actually prefer models with a frame that stands out - so they may be big, but it's by choice!
The site's interface is quite intuitive and allows a number of customizations and extras. Moreover, taking as an example a pair of glasses that I use, it was easy to see by the code in the stems the relationship between the size of mine and this new pair I wanted to order - I didn't know about this, but it's quite useful when you order such a product without having the opportunity to try it on.

Two weeks and a good and fast feedback throughout the ordering process later, I received the expected pair of sunglasses by mail. Accompanied by a rigid box, a flexible pouch, a cleaning cloth and a very useful screw key, the glasses are lightweight and very comfortable.
A classic style with a twist of innovation, perfect for a sporty and modern look.
In conclusion: I was very pleased! But don't rely only on my word here... you have the opportunity to experience for yourselves: just leave a comment in this post.
The first five comments will be entitled to a discount of $30 to use in a purchase on Firmoo. Enjoy!

As minhas favoritas continuam a ser as criações Filipe Sousa e as novas linhas Miss Júlia e Mr. Sousa seguem-lhes as pisadas.

Right on time, sunny recent days finally inviting us to dream with lighter clothes and shoes for the new season ...
Last Saturday, I was invited to attend the presentation of new Eureka Collection at Eskada Club, in Vizela.
The theme Escape into Nature was recreated in a refined yet refreshing and relaxed atmosphere and there was great expectation about the news, especially for the awaited presentation of the exclusive collection of the 5th anniversary of Eureka stores, signed by Eugénio Campos.

From the front row I could see all the details and add some more fresh designs to my wishlist (what a nice coincidence that my birthday's right before summer!). My favorite creations are still Filipe Sousa's and the new lines Miss Julia and Mr. Sousa seem to follow their footsteps.

My collaboration with the brand (more specifically with the Flagship Store of Santa Catarina Street, 237,  in Porto) will continue this season - if you're curious, have a little sneak peek on page 23 of the new catalog that should already be available in stores (or have a look at the hands of the girl on the second photo of this post)... go and have a look at the fresh new designs!

[Encontrei as fotos neste fantástico pinterest.

EN
Sometimes her story ends up as inspiring as the artist - and perhaps that's why they inspire them so much .

This time I bring you Emilie Flöge. I found a series of photos while searching the net for works of Gustav Klimt, one of my favorite painters, and soon caught my attention.
Muse, life companion and close friend of the painter, she also stands out for being a businesswoman in the fashion world, at a time when the business world belonged to men. With her younger sister and Klimt's sister-in-law, Helene, she successfully led a haute couture fashion salon in Vienna between 1904 and 1938, when World War II started affecting the city.

Revolutionary for her time, Emilie's fashion was characterized by patterns, ruffles, feminine dresses in loose, comfortable lines, fancy hats. How well any of these models would be portrayed in a Klimt's painting , right?

[I found these photos in this amazing pinterest. In the subtitles, you can read full descriptions with dates and other interesting information.]

Eureka Shoes Flagship Store

Monday, 4 November 2013

Last Saturday was the opening day of the new Eureka Shoes store, in Santa Catarina Street, nº 237, Porto. This is the first Flagship Store of the brand, which plans to launch a new concept associated with the Eureka universe.

Relying on the experience of over 25 years of the company Alberto Sousa, Lda, Eureka Shoes was established in 2009 and since then has been growing through an already considerable network of stores across the country.
I like the fresh and bold image of the brand, the modern and attractive design, the quality of the making, the enterprising, young and informal spirit you can feel in each visit to a Eureka store.

It was therefore with great pride that I was invited to have some jewels of the Flora Collection for sale on this new space in Porto... if you're around, make sure to pay it a visit!

[And if you pay attention to the minute 2:38 of the video up there, you can see some Flora Collection jewels, featured in the making of the Eureka's new collection catalog!]

{the interview series} mosgos

>> for the art and lifestyle lovers
>> check here all the past interviews and follow us on facebook too!

EN
We're still in the last days of summer, but the announcement of the start of school and the cooler nights already make us think about the comfort of warm and welcoming clothing... when I look at the shop by mosgos, I just want to start storing beautiful handmade knitted pieces for the times that are coming!
And so our interview series is back after the summer break: get to know Egle, a Lithuanian architect, who fell in love with Lisbon... and knitting.

Egle Bazaraite | mosgos

Tell us...
1. who is behind mosgos?
Mostly it is just one person - North loving northern Egle in the South. Sometimes some more fascinating ladies collaborating with their items like illustrations by Justina Klybaite and suspenders by Laura Rose.

2. have you become what you wanted to be when you grew up?
Well, first I wanted to me Mom. I am not, but maybe someday I will. Then I wanted to be pharmacist - in fact mostly for aesthetic reasons. Then I wanted to become an architect (I don't know myself where this idea came from) and I am! Since architecture is about everything, seems that I look at knitting as some kind of architectural project - it is about construction, material qualities and durability. And aesthetics, of course, aesthetics!

3. what inspires you to create?
A combination of having time and a lack of time. Then thinking, dreaming, travelling, walking and being with people I love or at least like.

Share with us...
4. your media of choice
Internet and conversation.

5. the favorite corner of your workspace
My workspace is the city! As an architect I adore being in the construction site seeing my ideas being materialised. While knitting, I love working surrounded by conversation by the dinner table.

6. a day at work
Days are different, but lately I am reading and writing for my investigation in architecture, and only in the evenings I manage to dedicate my time for sketching the ideas and knitting them. However, ideas for knitted pieces appear at any time of the day, and I have this little notebook where I draw the ideas and put some notes. I find this essential for being able to come back to these ideas later and develop them.

7. a business tip
Think about the person that you want your buyer to be and think why he/she would buy your product.

8. an advice to your younger you
Be brave and be sensitive!

9. a plan to the future
Understanding better the wool features and qualities by going down to the basic work with wool like carding and spinning, and try to produce my own yarn.

Pick one...
10. personality that influences you
First and foremost - my Man

11. book you think everyone should read
I don't think that there is anything that everyone should do... Tastes are so different! However: I liked very much a postmodern novel by Marta Tikkanen A Red Riding Hood, that is present in my way of being since I read it some 10 years ago.

12. unforgetable movie
Choosing one is a difficult task... I loved Barry Lyndon as well as the rest of Stanley's Kubrick films. And I want to mention as well La guerre du feu (Quest for fire), directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud with participation of Desmond Morris.

13. city to fall in love with
I love Vilnius so much - a capital of Lithuania.

14. favorite food and drink
homemade mixture of mushrooms and créme fraiche accompanied by bread from Alentejo. And coffee with light milk of coconut and rice.

15. guilty pleasure
Unfortunately, olives are my guilty pleasure lately - I get pimples if I eat more than one or two...

{friday I'm in love} Mode Marché

Rotterdam (245)
Rotterdam (252)
Rotterdam (246)
Rotterdam (249)
Rotterdam (285)Rotterdam (287)
Rotterdam (286)

I've told you before about the delightful street markets that we came across during our trip to the Netherlands. But I haven't told you yet that when we visited NAI in Rotterdam, we met a very special event... one of the great halls of the museum would be occupied that day by Mode Marché - a market dedicated to young Dutch designers, in the form of a Stock Sample Sale.

Needless to say I lost more time here than in the Museum itself... between vintage items, fashion, accessories and jewelry, the temptations were many! And in many cases at very affordable prices... which made the temptation irresistible (my suitcase, more stuffed when we returned than when we had left, would agree with me).

While touring the event I just thought... well, this is really a market with style, in a fantastic place, well organized, lively, with good atmosphere and nice music, with good designers, varied and appealing products. I'm sorry to say that even our most well-intentioned event of this kind can't reach the heels of this one, but... I know, I know, the differences are many and not everything depends on the goodwill of the organizers and the quality of the work of designers! But, well... I must say I've been more far to change myself to the Netherlands...

While walking in the market I avidly collected business cards for later recall, so I leave you with links to the websites of just some of the designers attending the event... to inspire you during the weekend! Go ahead and get lost...

{the interview series} cocon

Wednesday, 2 May 2012

Today I present you the delicate dreamy world of cocon... this is the brand created by Masami, a Japanese living in Southern France, passionate by fashion, the sea and the children imaginary that lives within every one of us.
Cocon is a children's clothing label, but also fabric dolls and home accessories, born of a rich imagination and filled with delicious details. Get to know Masami and her work and tell me what do you think!

[This post belongs to the weekly feature {the interview series} where I publish a new interview every wednesday with inspiring artists and bloggers I admire, according to the spirit of handmade and a creative lifestyle. Become a facebook fan and don't miss a bit!]

Akatsuka Masami | cocon
Céret, Southern France

1. Let’s pretend we don’t know each other and I’ve never heard about Masami or cocon. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello! I’m masami, a japanese who lives in France, mother of two children Kai and Moë.
I’m stylist, designer, creator, artist, inventor... as you want!

2. You went to fashion school in Tokyo and fine arts school in France, where you now live. How was this creative passion born and when did cocon began to take shape?
Since I was a little girl I was very passionate about art. maybe not “art” exactly at that time, but something that is born and that creates a bubble on the universe by hand anyway. I think that my world was already in it, but cocon began to take shape after my children were born, I had more confidence in myself.

3. Your creations with fabric are soft and delicate. Share with us the philosophy and concepts behind your work.
hmmm... philosophy and concept, for me it's the interpretation that can be given after my world is already present. My work is not born from that, it's very spontaneous.

4. You develop limited series of handcrafted products, from beautiful dolls to clothing and everyday accessories. Would you share your creative process with us?
Nothing simpler! Limited, because I make everything alone.
Ideas fall into my head, then idea is transformed into form, there's a selection of fabric and color,
Finally manufacturing...

5. Your wonderful characters are stylized, almost surreal! Would you consider they live among children’s imaginary or are destined to every child within us, adults?
Both. They come perhaps from children’s imaginary or even from the imaginary of adults who keep some good childhood memories - I kept in the brain and made it a mixture of child-adult.

6. I must say I love your jade plants and original mobiles! How about you: would you share a favorite and a best seller with us?
A best seller is kamomé (seagull) mobile for a while and my favorite is... all!

7. Your fashion background shows in your creations: you develop beautiful clothing collections, both to your dolls and children, as they are inspired by one another. Which one comes first? I’m curious about the upcoming collection! Can you give us a sneak peek?
Almost all starts with the ideas of clothing for children and then I adapt them to the clothing for the dolls.
Except the imaginary doll, I decide the clothing through each character.
The new collection of cocon clothing will be out late April or early May, I hope. I would love to make a boy doll clothing in this collection!

8. Through your shop your creations travel all around the world! What means do you use to promote your work?
Internet. If I waited here in this small town, nothing would ever happen. If I can work around the world, it's because humans have created this great tool!

9. Would you share with us a regular day at work?
I work on the days when children are at school from 9 am to 5 pm. Sometimes on the weekend.
I will soon have a work space, so I would really like to separate my work and private life.

10. Would you give us a glimpse of your working space? Describe it and tell us what you love most about it.
My little work space is on the corner of our living room next to the dining room. Lots of things move along the day. I try to have around the table things essential to free my mind, like pebbles, driftwood, leaves, seeds, shell, glands...
Now I’m very happy to soon have a work space just for me, just for cocon.

11. You take beautiful photographs, both from your creations and the world that surrounds you - I bet photography must be one of your other passions… Would you share your hobbies with us?
My passion for photography started when I was a student at fashion school, where I learned about the development.
More things I like... music, films, take a walk, DIY! Right now I don't have much free time.

12. You now live in the south of France, tell us what you enjoy most about it. Do you miss your roots?
Nature, it's the element I need. Here, we are lucky: we have the sea, mountains, river and lake without going too far. In fact, I left Paris to stay close to the Mediterranean Sea. I knew nobody, but no matter.
My father loves the sea, he took me there often. My need of the presence of the sea near me comes from my childhood, I think.
I miss my roots? Yes, sometimes when I’m weak and sad. But I don’t regret my choices.
Now, I'm struggling to create the roots here in France for my children.
Life is funny.

13. If you could live in any historical era of your choice, what would it be? Why?
Youth in the 60's to 80's - less individualism, incredible energy.
People were more flexible, I believe (watching my husband).

14. What advices would you give to someone who would also like to become an entrepreneur?
I don't know if it’s me who can give advice... we just must believe what we do.

15. What are your plans for the future? And your most unrealistic dreams?
Ah! Our dream is to go around the world sailing - and then my little work place in it!

Now a quick question and answer game so we can find a bit more about you and your tastes!
Tell us one:

book: illusion, Richard Bach
music: Ray lamontagne (his voice touches me deeply)
movie: Dead Man
personality/artist: my children, Kai and Moë are so creative and surprising
color: white
object: wooden item, especially driftwood
animal: dog (indie and yoyo)
drink: red wine
food: natural food, japanese rice and fresh fish
season of the year: all seasons
travel destination: I'd like to visit more of our beautiful region
piece of clothing: vest, men’s clothing
secret: so, the secret is a secret!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful world with us Masami!
