E foi assim a inauguração da exposição do Desafio Tincal lab 2018 Joalharia e Tecnologia!

O atelier encheu com artistas vindos de vários países, amigos e curiosos - uma verdadeira festa de joalharia. Este ano são 43 os autores seleccionados, de cerca de 20 países e o resultado é um conjunto de quase 100 peças exclusivas inspiradas pelo mundo da tecnologia - desde a roda à cloud.

Todas as peças têm o preço máximo de 100€, o que faz desta uma incrível oportunidade para adquirir uma peça única a um preço extremamente acessível.

Este ano, o júri, composto por mim (representante do Tincal lab), pela Áurea Praga (representante da Joalharia) e pelo Tauan Bernardo (representante da Tecnologia) seleccionou um autor para o Prémio Selecção do Júri, que terá a oportunidade de expor no Tincal lab em 2019: a romena Cleopatra Cosulet e as suas versáteis peças alfinete/colar, que, realizadas em resina com pigmentos termocromáticos, mudam de cor com o calor.

O público também terá oportunidade de selecionar o seu favorito: o autor com mais votos presenciais (visitas no Tincal lab) e likes online (neste álbum do facebook) também irá expor no Porto no próximo ano. Votem aqui!

And so was the opening of the exhibition of Tincal lab Challenge 2018 Jewelry and Technology!

The atelier filled with artists from various countries, friends and curious - a true jewelry festival. This year 43 artists are selected from about 20 countries and the result is a set of almost 100 exclusive pieces inspired by the world of technology - from the wheel to the cloud.

All the pieces have the maximum price of 100€, which makes this an incredible opportunity to acquire a unique piece at an extremely affordable price.

This year, the jury, composed by me (representative of Tincal lab), Áurea Praga (Jewelry representative) and by Tauan Bernardo (Technology representative) selected an artist for the Selection of the Jury Award that will have the opportunity to exhibit in Tincal lab in 2019: the Romanian Cleopatra Cosulet and her versatile brooch/necklace pieces, which, made in resin with thermochromatic pigments, change color with the heat.

The public will also have the opportunity to select their favorite: the artist with more votes in person (visits at Tincal lab) and likes online (on this facebook album) will also exhibit in Porto next year. Vote here!

Chegou outra vez aquela altura do ano!

Depois de meses de trabalho, enquanto curadora e organizadora, é com muito gosto que vos convido para a inauguração de mais uma exposição colectiva no Tincal Lab: o Desafio 2018 Joalharia e Tecnologia.

Com o principal objectivo de mostrar a qualidade e diversidade da joalharia contemporânea, abrindo as suas portas ao grande público, o Tincal lab convida todos os anos joalheiros de todo o mundo para um Desafio: a criação de até 3 peças com o preço máximo de 100€, inspiradas por um tema.

Em 2018, a 4ª edição desta iniciativa propõe uma reflexão sobre o tema Joalharia e Tecnologia e traz até ao Porto quase 100 peças exclusivas de mais de 40 autores de 20 países diferentes.

Esta fantástica exposição colectiva de características únicas inaugura no Tincal lab a 10 de Novembro e pode ser visitada até ao final de 2018.

Na data de inauguração será lançado o catálogo desta edição e anunciado o vencedor do prémio Selecção do Júri. Também o público terá oportunidade de escolher o seu artista favorito, através de votação online até ao final do ano.

Em dia de Inaugurações Simultâneas no Quarteirão Miguel Bombarda aproveitem para visitar também o Tincal lab, que fica muito próximo, na Rua de Cedofeita, 27, 2º frente - bem perto da Praça Carlos Alberto.

And it's again that time of the year!

After months of work, as curator and organizer, it's my pleasure to invite you to the opening of another collective exhibition at Tincal Lab: Challenge 2018 Jewelry and Technology.

With the main objective to show the quality and diversity of contemporary jewelry, opening its doors to the general public, Tincal lab invites every year jewelers from around the world for a Challenge: the creation of up to 3 pieces with the maximum price of 100€, inspired by a theme.

In 2018, the 4th edition of this initiative suggests a reflection on the theme Jewelry and Technology and brings to Porto almost 100 exclusive pieces from more than 40 artists from 20 different countries.

The opening of this amazing collective exhibition of unique characteristics will be at Tincal lab on 10th of November and it can be visited until the end of 2018.

On the opening date, the catalog of this edition will be released and the winner of the Jury Selection Prize will be announced. Also the public will have the opportunity to choose their favorite artist, through online voting until the end of the year.

Bienal de Cerveira 2018

Vale sempre a pena uma visita à Bienal de Cerveira!

Depois de ter visitado pela primeira vez no ano passado não quero deixar de voltar. Desta vez o evento decorreu excepcionalmente em dois anos consecutivos, em jeito de celebração dos 40 anos.

Imperdível o passeio pela simpática vila onde cada recanto é invadido por novas expressões artísticas, a visita a cada sala do Castelo, com as obras a concurso, e a ida ao Fórum, onde em cada evento é homenageado um novo artista (desta vez Cruzeiro Seixas). Mas são muitos mais os espaços, as performances e eventos, impossível ver tudo num dia.

Desta vez, um pouco por acaso, tivemos a sorte de assistir a uma visita guiada ao Fórum, onde foi um prazer descobrir mais sobre a história da Bienal e a visão de Jaime Isidoro, pintor e galerista português, que acabaria por lhe dar início.

It's always worth a visit to Bienal de Cerveira!

After going for the first time last year, I don't want to miss it again. This time the event took place exceptionally in two consecutive years, in a way to celebrate the 40 years.

Don't miss a walk through the friendly village where each corner is invaded by new artistic expressions, the visit to each room of the Castle, with the works of the contest, and the Forum, where in each event a new artist is honored (this time Cruzeiro Seixas). But there are many more spaces, performances and events, impossible to see everything in one day.

This time, a bit by chance, we were fortunate enough to attend a guided tour of the Forum, where it was a pleasure to find out more about the history of the Bienal and the vision of Jaime Isidoro, a Portuguese painter and gallery owner, who started it.

Nesta 4ª edição convidamos joalheiros de todo o mundo a criar até 3 peças com o preço máximo de 100€ inspiradas pelo tema Tecnologia. As candidaturas podem ser enviadas até 30 de Junho, depois dessa data os candidatos seleccionados pelo júri terão tempo para criar as peças, que deverão chegar ao Tincal lab, no Porto, até 1 de Outubro. O evento de exposição e venda inaugura a 10 de Novembro e será acompanhado, como habitualmente, pela edição de um catálogo.

Tincal lab Challenge 2018 is launched!

If you're a jeweler, don't miss the opportunity to join this event and apply until June 30.

In this 4th edition we invite jewelers from all over the world to create up to 3 pieces with a maximum price of 100€ inspired by the theme Technology. Applications can be sent until June 30, after that date the candidates selected by the jury will have time to create the pieces, which should arrive at Tincal lab in Porto, until October 1st. The exhibition and sale event will open on November 10 and will be accompanied, as usual, by the publication of a catalog.

Muitas novidades no próximo Sábado!
Em dia de Inaugurações Simultâneas em Miguel Bombarda, apresentação de duas novas colecções Ana Pina: ORPHEU, na Galeria Autoria, SINGULAR na scar-id, não percam!

O R P H E U
Na Grécia antiga, Orfeu, poeta e músico lendário, era conhecido por ser capaz de encantar todos os seres vivos - e mesmo os inanimados - com a divina música da sua lira.

No início do século XX, o termo Orfismo foi usado para descrever um tipo particular de cubismo desenvolvido pelo casal Delaunay, que ambicionava transmitir a música através da pintura.

Símbolo da capacidade das artes de se inspirarem mutuamente, Orfeu está agora presente nesta colecção de joalharia: uma interpretação abstracta e minimalista do ritmo sem fim dos movimentos circulares das composições de Delaunay - uma composição para ser ouvida como uma sinfonia, admirada como uma pintura, usada como uma jóia.

A Colecção Orpheu começou por duas peças apresentadas no Desafio Joalharia e Música, do Tincal lab - agora é composta por uma série de peças combináveis entre si, em prata escovada.

No próximo Sábado as novidades serão apresentadas na Galeria Autoria, no Porto!

Como curvas de nível que pousam sobre o corpo, formas orgânicas em diferentes metais desenham memórias de paisagens abstractas e singulares.

A Colecção Singular é composta por peças únicas em prata e bronze, com apontamentos em óxido.

On Simultaneous Openings Day at Miguel Bombarda, presentation of two new collections by Ana Pina: ORPHEU at Galeria Autoria, SINGULAR at scar-id. If you're in Porto, don't miss it!

In ancient Greece, Orpheus, legendary musician and poet, was known for being able to charm all living - and even inanimate - beings with the divine music of his lyre.

In the beginning of the 20th century the term Orphism was used to describe a particular kind of cubism developed by the couple Delaunay, that aimed to convey music through painting.

As symbol of the ability of arts to inspire each other, Orpheus is now present in this jewelry collection: an abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Delaunay’s compositions - a composition to be heard as a symphony, admired as a painting, worn as a jewel.

Orpheu Collection started by two pieces presented in the Challenge Jewelry and Music, by Tincal lab - now is composed of a set of pieces in brushed silver, perfect to be combined.
Next Saturday the news will be presented at Galeria Autoria, in Porto!

S I N G U L A R

As contour lines that land on the body, organic shapes in different metals draw memories of abstract and unique landscapes.

Singular Collection is made up of unique pieces in silver and bronze with oxidised details.

Uma habitação que é uma galeria, uma galeria que é um teste aos limites da multidisciplinaridade.

Assim é a Galeria Oitavo, localizada desde Janeiro de 2017 no apartamento dos co-fundadores, Rita Vila-Chã Martins e Francisco Moura Relvas, na chamada Cooperativa dos Pedreiros, na Rua da Alegria, no Porto.

Vale bem a pena a visita, para ficar a conhecer o conceito e o apartamento, pelas exposições, pela conversa, pelas vistas - durante a tarde em dias da semana ou ao Sábado, em dia de eventos especiais, como é o caso deste dia 14. Aproveitem!

This is Galeria Oitavo [Eighth Gallery], located since January 2017 in the apartment of the co-founders, Rita Vila-Chã Martins and Francisco Moura Relvas, in the so-called Cooperativa dos Pedreiros, in Rua da Alegria, in Porto.

Mês da Arquitectura da Maia // João Álvaro Rocha

Vale a pena passar no Fórum da Maia antes do final do mês, para uma visita à exposição que marca a primeira edição do Mês da Arquitectura da Maia.

Dedicada ao arquitecto João Álvaro Rocha, a exposição é composta por esquiços, desenhos técnicos, fotos e maquetes - e, embora, enquanto arquitecta, percorra esta mostra com todo o cuidado e admiração, gosto de pensar que, mesmo quem não partilha deste gosto a nível profissional, é capaz de encontrar aqui motivos para olhar de outro modo para o mundo construído que o rodeia.

Durante o mês houve ainda debates e visitas guiadas, mas, se tal como eu não chegaram a tempo, aproveitem para pelo menos ver a exposição - o traço de João Álvaro Rocha fala por si!

It's worth going to Fórum of Maia before the end of the month for a visit to the exhibition that marks the first edition of the Month of Architecture of Maia.

Dedicated to the architect João Álvaro Rocha, the exhibition is composed of sketches, technical drawings, photos and models - and even though, as an architect, I visit this exhibition with all the care and admiration, I like to think that, even those who don't share this taste on a professional level, are able to find here reasons to look in a different way to the built world that surrounds them.

During the month there were also debates and guided tours, but if you didn't arrive in time, just like me, at least take the opportunity to see the exhibition - the trace of João Álvaro Rocha speaks for itself!

Tincal lab // Workshop de Coloração em Metal com Maria Sais Fluvià

O último fim-de-semana foi passado entre muita cor no Tincal lab!

Foi altura de receber doze joalheiros e curiosos para aprender com Maria Sais Fluvià, vinda de Barcelona, muitas técnicas diferentes e truques sobre como dar cor em metal.

Tinta acrílica, porcelânica, pigmento misturado com caseína ou resina e até alho e limão, misturados com calor, foram usados, numa festa de cor, texturas e surpreendentes resultados.

Last weekend was spent between so much color at Tincal lab!

It was time to receive twelve jewelers and curious to learn with Maria Sais Fluvià, coming from Barcelona, many different techniques and tricks on how to give color to metal.

Acrylic paint, porcelanic, pigment mixed with casein or resin and even garlic and lemon, mixed with heat, were used in a feast of color, textures and surprising results.

Vale a pena conhecer as várias personalidades de Almada, o seu sentido de humor, os deliciosos auto-retratos, as linhas de expressividade exacta dos seus desenhos - aquela que ele considerava a maior de todas as artes.

Vale ainda a pena, sempre, rever o Desterrado e apanhar sol no pátio do Museu - a exposição pode ser visitada até 18 de Março e a entrada é gratuita todos os Domingos até às 14h, por isso não há desculpas. Aproveitem!

Almada Negreiros, exhibition at Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis.

It's worth knowing the various personalities of Almada, his sense of humor, his delightful self-portraits, the exact and expressive lines of his drawings - the one he considered the greatest of all the arts.

It's also worthwhile, always, to review the Desterrado and sunbathe in the patio of the Museum - the exhibition can be visited until March 18th and the entrance is free every Sunday until 2pm, so there are no excuses. Enjoy!

Decorreu o Workshop de Electroforming com Gaston Rois, joalheiro argentino que vive em Barcelona e se especializou nesta técnica, que permite cobrir com uma camada de cobre quase qualquer tipo de objecto que se pretenda transformar numa jóia - um meio de conseguir formas tridimensionais impossíveis de produzir através de outras técnicas.

Last weekend was filled with strange experiences and astounding discoveries at Tincal lab!

We had an Electroforming Workshop held by Gaston Rois, an Argentinean jeweler who lives in Barcelona and specialized in this technique, which allows to cover with copper almost any type of object that one wants to transform into a jewel - a means of achieving three-dimensional shapes impossible to produce through other techniques.
