E foi assim a inauguração da exposição do Desafio Tincal lab 2018 Joalharia e Tecnologia!

O atelier encheu com artistas vindos de vários países, amigos e curiosos - uma verdadeira festa de joalharia. Este ano são 43 os autores seleccionados, de cerca de 20 países e o resultado é um conjunto de quase 100 peças exclusivas inspiradas pelo mundo da tecnologia - desde a roda à cloud.

Todas as peças têm o preço máximo de 100€, o que faz desta uma incrível oportunidade para adquirir uma peça única a um preço extremamente acessível.

Este ano, o júri, composto por mim (representante do Tincal lab), pela Áurea Praga (representante da Joalharia) e pelo Tauan Bernardo (representante da Tecnologia) seleccionou um autor para o Prémio Selecção do Júri, que terá a oportunidade de expor no Tincal lab em 2019: a romena Cleopatra Cosulet e as suas versáteis peças alfinete/colar, que, realizadas em resina com pigmentos termocromáticos, mudam de cor com o calor.

O público também terá oportunidade de selecionar o seu favorito: o autor com mais votos presenciais (visitas no Tincal lab) e likes online (neste álbum do facebook) também irá expor no Porto no próximo ano. Votem aqui!

And so was the opening of the exhibition of Tincal lab Challenge 2018 Jewelry and Technology!

The atelier filled with artists from various countries, friends and curious - a true jewelry festival. This year 43 artists are selected from about 20 countries and the result is a set of almost 100 exclusive pieces inspired by the world of technology - from the wheel to the cloud.

All the pieces have the maximum price of 100€, which makes this an incredible opportunity to acquire a unique piece at an extremely affordable price.

This year, the jury, composed by me (representative of Tincal lab), Áurea Praga (Jewelry representative) and by Tauan Bernardo (Technology representative) selected an artist for the Selection of the Jury Award that will have the opportunity to exhibit in Tincal lab in 2019: the Romanian Cleopatra Cosulet and her versatile brooch/necklace pieces, which, made in resin with thermochromatic pigments, change color with the heat.

The public will also have the opportunity to select their favorite: the artist with more votes in person (visits at Tincal lab) and likes online (on this facebook album) will also exhibit in Porto next year. Vote here!

Depois de meses de trabalho, enquanto curadora e organizadora, é com muito gosto que vos convido para a inauguração de mais uma exposição colectiva no Tincal Lab: o Desafio 2018 Joalharia e Tecnologia.

Com o principal objectivo de mostrar a qualidade e diversidade da joalharia contemporânea, abrindo as suas portas ao grande público, o Tincal lab convida todos os anos joalheiros de todo o mundo para um Desafio: a criação de até 3 peças com o preço máximo de 100€, inspiradas por um tema.

Em 2018, a 4ª edição desta iniciativa propõe uma reflexão sobre o tema Joalharia e Tecnologia e traz até ao Porto quase 100 peças exclusivas de mais de 40 autores de 20 países diferentes.

Esta fantástica exposição colectiva de características únicas inaugura no Tincal lab a 10 de Novembro e pode ser visitada até ao final de 2018.

Na data de inauguração será lançado o catálogo desta edição e anunciado o vencedor do prémio Selecção do Júri. Também o público terá oportunidade de escolher o seu artista favorito, através de votação online até ao final do ano.

And it's again that time of the year!

After months of work, as curator and organizer, it's my pleasure to invite you to the opening of another collective exhibition at Tincal Lab: Challenge 2018 Jewelry and Technology.

With the main objective to show the quality and diversity of contemporary jewelry, opening its doors to the general public, Tincal lab invites every year jewelers from around the world for a Challenge: the creation of up to 3 pieces with the maximum price of 100€, inspired by a theme.

In 2018, the 4th edition of this initiative suggests a reflection on the theme Jewelry and Technology and brings to Porto almost 100 exclusive pieces from more than 40 artists from 20 different countries.

The opening of this amazing collective exhibition of unique characteristics will be at Tincal lab on 10th of November and it can be visited until the end of 2018.

On the opening date, the catalog of this edition will be released and the winner of the Jury Selection Prize will be announced. Also the public will have the opportunity to choose their favorite artist, through online voting until the end of the year.

As candidaturas podem ser enviadas até 30 de Junho, depois dessa data os candidatos seleccionados pelo júri terão tempo para criar as peças, que deverão chegar ao Tincal lab, no Porto, até 1 de Outubro. Tincal lab Challenge 2018 is launched!

If you're a jeweler, don't miss the opportunity to join this event and apply until June 30.

In this 4th edition we invite jewelers from all over the world to create up to 3 pieces with a maximum price of 100€ inspired by the theme Technology. Applications can be sent until June 30, after that date the candidates selected by the jury will have time to create the pieces, which should arrive at Tincal lab in Porto, until October 1st. Muitas novidades no próximo Sábado!
Em dia de Inaugurações Simultâneas em Miguel Bombarda, apresentação de duas novas colecções Ana Pina: ORPHEU, na Galeria Autoria, SINGULAR na scar-id, não percam!

O R P H E U
Na Grécia antiga, Orfeu, poeta e músico lendário, era conhecido por ser capaz de encantar todos os seres vivos - e mesmo os inanimados - com a divina música da sua lira.

No início do século XX, o termo Orfismo foi usado para descrever um tipo particular de cubismo desenvolvido pelo casal Delaunay, que ambicionava transmitir a música através da pintura.

Símbolo da capacidade das artes de se inspirarem mutuamente, Orfeu está agora presente nesta colecção de joalharia: uma interpretação abstracta e minimalista do ritmo sem fim dos movimentos circulares das composições de Delaunay - uma composição para ser ouvida como uma sinfonia, admirada como uma pintura, usada como uma jóia.

A Colecção Orpheu começou por duas peças apresentadas no Desafio Joalharia e Música, do Tincal lab - agora é composta por uma série de peças combináveis entre si, em prata escovada.

No próximo Sábado as novidades serão apresentadas na Galeria Autoria, no Porto!

Como curvas de nível que pousam sobre o corpo, formas orgânicas em diferentes metais desenham memórias de paisagens abstractas e singulares.

On Simultaneous Openings Day at Miguel Bombarda, presentation of two new collections by Ana Pina: ORPHEU at Galeria Autoria, SINGULAR at scar-id. If you're in Porto, don't miss it!

In ancient Greece, Orpheus, legendary musician and poet, was known for being able to charm all living - and even inanimate - beings with the divine music of his lyre.

In the beginning of the 20th century the term Orphism was used to describe a particular kind of cubism developed by the couple Delaunay, that aimed to convey music through painting.

As symbol of the ability of arts to inspire each other, Orpheus is now present in this jewelry collection: an abstract and minimalist interpretation of the endless rhythm of circular movements of Delaunay’s compositions - a composition to be heard as a symphony, admired as a painting, worn as a jewel.

Orpheu Collection started by two pieces presented in the Challenge Jewelry and Music, by Tincal lab - now is composed of a set of pieces in brushed silver, perfect to be combined.
Next Saturday the news will be presented at Galeria Autoria, in Porto!

As contour lines that land on the body, organic shapes in different metals draw memories of abstract and unique landscapes.

Singular Collection is made up of unique pieces in silver and bronze with oxidised details.

O último fim-de-semana foi passado entre muita cor no Tincal lab!

Foi altura de receber doze joalheiros e curiosos para aprender com Maria Sais Fluvià, vinda de Barcelona, muitas técnicas diferentes e truques sobre como dar cor em metal.

Tinta acrílica, porcelânica, pigmento misturado com caseína ou resina e até alho e limão, misturados com calor, foram usados, numa festa de cor, texturas e surpreendentes resultados.

Last weekend was spent between so much color at Tincal lab!

It was time to receive twelve jewelers and curious to learn with Maria Sais Fluvià, coming from Barcelona, many different techniques and tricks on how to give color to metal.

Acrylic paint, porcelanic, pigment mixed with casein or resin and even garlic and lemon, mixed with heat, were used in a feast of color, textures and surprising results.

Last weekend was filled with strange experiences and astounding discoveries at Tincal lab!

We had an Electroforming Workshop held by Gaston Rois, an Argentinean jeweler who lives in Barcelona and specialized in this technique, which allows to cover with copper almost any type of object that one wants to transform into a jewel - a means of achieving three-dimensional shapes impossible to produce through other techniques.

17 de Junho coincidiu com a data de Open Day no Tincal lab, por isso este dia acabou por ser um 2 em 1, entre a passagem dos meus 37 anos e a celebração do segundo aniversário do atelier, que abriu mais ou menos por esta altura em 2015. Lembram-se?

Foi um dia de muito calor, flores, bolo, brindes, surpresas e visitas de amigos.

Posso ter estado no meu local de trabalho, mas foi sem dúvida um dia de festa!

This time my birthday was celebrated in a different way!

June 17th coincided with the Open Day at Tincal lab, so this day ended up being a 2 in 1, between the passage of my 37 years and the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the atelier, that opened around this date on 2015. Remember?

It was a hot day, filled with flowers, cake, toasts, surprises and visits from friends.

I may have been at my place of work, but it was definitely a party day!

Maio tem sido um mês intenso!

A viagem até Bucareste e a participação na Autor, dois workshops com Gustavo Paradiso no Tincal lab, o evento Talk & Taste... uma festa de joalharia contemporânea!

Depois de ter estado no Tincal lab no ano passado para um Workshop de Fold Forming, o joalheiro argentino Gustavo Paradiso regressou agora para dois Workshops em diferentes fins-de-semana.

Primeiro: granulação, depois: fundição em osso de choco. Duas técnicas tão diferentes e tão particulares, que exigiram, surpreenderam e ensinaram muito aos participantes.

Eu fiquei apenas a admirar toda a azáfama e animação - é sempre bom ver as caras de satisfação de quem aprende uma coisa nova!

May has been an intense month!

The trip to Bucharest and participation in Autor, two workshops with Gustavo Paradiso at Tincal lab, the Talk & Taste event... a contemporary jewelry feast, I'd say!

After having been at Tincal lab last year for a Fold Forming Workshop, Argentine jeweler Gustavo Paradiso has now returned to two workshops at different weekends.

First: granulation, then: cuttlebone fish casting. Two techniques so different and so particular, that demanded, surprised and taught so much to the participants.

I was just admiring all the hustle and bustle - it's always great to see the satisfaction faces of those learning a new thing!

A ida à AUTOR, feira internacional de joalharia contemporânea, em Bucareste, foi sem dúvida o principal motivo para esta viagem. Mas daí a juntar esta inspiradora experiência profissional a umas mini-férias, com direito a passeios por Milão, Bucareste e Transilvânia, foi um passo!

Em breve falarei do resto, mas para começar, trago-vos fotos e o feedback da participação neste incrível evento dedicado em exclusivo ao mundo da joalharia de autor - uma das três feiras do género na Europa.

Cerca de 90 autores de todo o mundo expuseram as suas mais recentes colecções no Grand Hotel du Boulevard, no centro de Bucareste, no fim-de-semana de 13 e 14 de Maio.

O edifício é fantástico, com dois espaços que contrastam entre si: um branco, de linhas modernas, o outro exuberante na decoração barroca - foi neste último que fiquei, pronta a apresentar a minha Colecção Tubular ao público romeno. A organização do evento revelou-se fantástica em todos os aspectos, desde a imagem irreverente e cheia de personalidade, até à simpatia e apoio dado ao longo do evento. O público, afável e interessado, encheu o espaço e manteve os autores ocupados durante todo o fim-de-semana, enquanto conversava, fazia questões, experimentava as peças... foi uma refrescante experiência e muito gratificante receber o feedback positivo do público!

Para terminar, uma conferência em jeito de conversa informal e uma after party na Segunda, ajudaram a descontrair e ao convívio entre colegas.

Foi um fim-de-semana cansativo, mas pleno de boas energias! Parabéns à organização e um muito obrigado a todos os que, entre tantos trabalhos fantásticos, escolheram uma peça de joalharia minha para levar para casa!

Taking part in AUTOR, the international contemporary jewelry fair in Bucharest, was undoubtedly the main reason for this trip. But then, adding this inspiring professional experience to a mini-vacation, entitled to tours around Milan, Bucharest and Transylvania, was a step!

Soon I'll tell you about the rest, but to begin with, I'll bring you some photos and feedback on attending this incredible event dedicated exclusively to the world of contemporary jewelry - one of the three fairs of its kind in Europe.

Around 90 authors from around the world were exhibiting their latest collections at the Grand Hotel du Boulevard in central Bucharest on the weekend of 13th and 14th of May.

The building is fantastic, with two contrasting spaces: a white one, with modern lines, the other luxurious in baroque decoration - I was in the latter, ready to present my Tubular Collection to the Romanian public. The organization of the event has been fantastic in every aspect, from the irreverent and striking image, to the sympathy and support given throughout the event. The audience, affable and interested, filled the space and kept the authors busy all weekend, while talking, asking questions, trying the pieces... it was a refreshing experience and very gratifying to receive the positive feedback from the audience!

In the end, an informal conference and an after-party on Monday helped to relax and socialize with colleagues.

Hoje estou de partida!

É com muito gosto que estarei presente a apresentar a minha mais recente Colecção Tubular na 16ª edição da Autor, uma das três feiras europeias dedicadas à joalharia contemporânea.

Este evento decorre no Grand Hotel du Boulevard, em Bucareste, no fim-de-semana de 13 e 14 de Maio e tem como mote apelar aos sentidos através do maravilhoso universo da joalharia contemporânea.

Ouve, toca e adquire o gosto pela joalharia contemporânea, um universo sensorial único.

Estou certa de que será uma fantástica forma de promover o meu trabalho enquanto conheço também pessoalmente artistas que já sigo online e admiro há algum tempo!

Juntando o trabalho ao lazer, aproveito para partir um pouco mais cedo e fazer escala em Milão e também para ficar um pouco mais por Bucareste e partir à descoberta da Transilvânia... se quiserem acompanhem as minhas aventuras dos próximos dias no instagram.

Estarei de volta ao atelier a 17 de Maio, por isso não se admirem se demorar um pouco mais do que o habitual a responder a emails e encomendas. Até já!

Today I'm leaving!

It's a pleasure to announce that I'll be presenting my newest Tubular Collection at 16th edition of Autor, one of the three European fairs dedicated to contemporary jewelry.

This great event happens at Grand Hotel du Boulevard, in Bucharest, on the weekend of 13-14th May and has as motto to train your senses through the wonderful world of contemporary jewelry.

Listen, touch and acquire taste for contemporary jewelry, a one-of-a-king sensory universe.

I'm sure it will be a great way to promote my work and also get to know so many incredible artists that I already follow online and will now be able to meet in person!

Putting together work and leisure, I'm leaving a bit earlier to make a stop in Milan and will also be staying a bit longer in Bucharest to make time to discover some of Transylvania... if you want to follow my adventures over the next few days just keep an eye on my instagram.

I'll be back in the atelier on May 17th, so don't be surprised if I take a little longer than usual to answer to emails and orders. See you soon!

No Sábado passado foi apresentada a minha Colecção Tubular na loja scar-id, no Porto!

A fantástica montra desta loja para os amantes da moda e do design na Rua do Rosário foi ocupada pelas peças rectilíneas e geométricas da mais recente colecção de joalharia Ana Pina.

A nova Colecção Tubular combina fios e tubos de secção redonda de forma subtil, dando origem a peças simultaneamente minimalistas e capazes de se destacar, que celebram linhas geométricas puras e as suas múltiplas possibilidades de combinação.

Last Saturday my Tubular Collection was presented at scar-id store, in Porto!

The amazing storefront of this perfect store for lovers of fashion and design at Rua do Rosário was occupied by the rectlinear geometric pieces of the latest Ana Pina jewelry collection.

The new Tubular Collection combines round wires and tubes in a subtle way, creating both minimalist and statement pieces that aim to celebrate pure geometric lines and its multiple possibilities of combination.

And if you are in Brussels, visit ICKX, a contemporary jewelry Gallery, which is also featuring some pieces of this new collection integrated in the exhibition that opened last Sunday.

Tincal lab // Workshop Joalharia em Porcelana com Trinidad Contreras

Foi mais um fim-de-semana de workshop no Tincal lab!

Desta vez foi com muito gosto que recebi no atelier, enquanto organizadora e participante, a joalheira Trinidad Contreras para um dos mais surpreendentes workshops que por cá passaram: Joalharia em Porcelana.

A Trinidad nasceu em Sevilha, mas trabalha em Barcelona, na criação de maravilhosas peças de joalharia que combinam a beleza da porcelana com o metal. Quando surgiu a hipótese de ela vir até ao Porto partilhar a sua arte percebi logo que seria uma oportunidade a não perder e o Workshop esgotou rapidamente.

Foram 12 horas de maravilhosa descoberta, entre mãos sujas de barro, gesso, porcelana, a multiplicação de moldes de pequenos objectos, transformação de formas e cores imprevisíveis... agora as peças ainda irão ao forno e eu estou ansiosa para ver o resultado final!

It was another workshop weekend at Tincal lab!

This time it was with great pleasure that I welcomed in the atelier, as organizer and participant, the jeweler Trinidad Contreras for one of the most surprising workshops that have happened here: Porcelain applied to Jewelry.

Trinidad was born in Seville, but works in Barcelona, ​​creating wonderful pieces of jewelry that combine the beauty of porcelain with metal. When I had the chance to invite her to visit Porto and share her art, I soon realized that it was an opportunity not to be missed and the Workshop was quickly sold out.

We had 12 hours of wonderful discovery, between hands dirty with clay, plaster, porcelain, multiplication of molds of small objects, transformation of shapes and unpredictable colors... now the pieces will still go to the oven and I am anxious to see the final result!

Tincal lab // Workshop Modelação em Cera com Huai-Huai Lin

O fim-de-semana passado foi de workshop no Tincal lab!

Huai-Huai Lin é uma joalheira de Taiwan que participou no Desafio Joalharia e Cinema. Quando ela me contactou há algum tempo atrás a dizer que iria viajar pela Europa e queria aproveitar para visitar o Tincal lab por altura da inauguração da exposição, fiquei muito contente. Quando, para além disso, ela me propos dar um workshop no atelier para partilhar conhecimentos sobre a técnica muito particular de modelação em cera que ela usa nos seus trabalhos, eu pensei: porque não? E ainda bem que aceitei!

A primeira edição, no Sábado passado, encheu e a de Domingo também - foram dois dias de muito entusiasmo e, sobretudo, muita concentração no Tincal lab. A técnica de Huai-Huai Lin permite construir pequenas maravilhas em cera através da adição de pequenas gotas, com recurso a uma agulha e uma lamparina.

Os resultados são incríveis, peças delicadas e de um detalhe impressionante, como esta aqui, em exposição e disponível para venda no Tincal lab.

É um prazer ver que o atelier se transforma aos poucos no espaço de partilha e interacção entre artistas de várias linhas de trabalho, origens e percursos, tal como eu tanto queria. Obrigada por acompanharem e contribuírem para este encontro enriquecedor entre colegas.

Last weekend was workshop time at Tincal lab!

Huai-Huai Lin is a Taiwanese jeweler who participated in Jewelry and Cinema Challenge. When she contacted me some time ago to say that she would be traveling through Europe and wanted to visit Tincal Lab by the time the exhibition opened, I was very pleased. When, moreover, she proposed to give a workshop in the atelier to share knowledge about the very particular technique of wax modeling she uses in her work, I thought: why not? And I'm so glad I accepted!

The first edition, last Saturday, was full and Sunday too - we had two days of great enthusiasm and, above all, a lot of concentration at Tincal lab. Huai-Huai Lin's technique allows to build mini wonders in wax by adding small drops, using a needle and a lamp.

The results are incredible, delicate pieces and an impressive detail, like this one, on display and available for sale at Tincal lab.

It's a pleasure to see that the atelier gradually transforms into the space of sharing and interaction between artists from various lines of work, origins and paths, just as I so much wanted. Thank you for joining us and contributing to this enriching meeting between colleagues.

If you couldn't make it to the opening, you can still visit the exhibition until the end of the year: drop by the atelier over weekdays, between 10am and 7pm and save the date of the Open Day of December, on the 10th, thinking about who is available only on the weekend.
