Para além de ser uma cidade incrível, Berlim é um paraíso para quem gosta de arquitectura.

Museus, edifícios residenciais, privados ou públicos... o pior é quando não se tem a possibilidade de ver ou de entrar (o Bauhaus Archiv e a National Gallery estavam encerrados para obras!), mas quando, por outro lado, se proporciona a surpresa de uma visita inesperada ao interior (como no apartamento da Corbusierhaus) a alegria é imensa!

Ficam então fotos de alguns favoritos:

10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15 Berliner Philarmoniker, Hans Scharoun, 1963 - sem oportunidade para assistir a um concerto, vale bem a pena a visita guiada.

18. 19. Bonjour Tristesse, Álvaro Siza, 1984

20. Reichstag, Norman Foster, 1999 - vale a pena marcar a visita guiada para saber mais sobre o Parlamento alemão e, claro, subir à cúpula! Marcar com antecedência.

21. 22. 23. Jüdisches Museum, Daniel Libeskind, 2001 - ou um dos museus mais psicologicamente desconfortáveis alguma vez construído.

24. 25. Memorial aos Judeus Mortos da Europa, Peter Eisenman, 2005 - uma espécie de 2711 caixões urbanos para lembrar os inacreditáveis 6 000 000.

Apart from being an incredible city, Berlin is a paradise for architecture lovers.

Museums, residential buildings, private or public... the worst is when you're not able to see or enter (the Bauhaus Archiv and the National Gallery were closed for works!), but when, on the other hand, there's the surprise of an unexpected visit to the interior (as in the Corbusierhaus apartment) the joy is immense!

Passou um mês desde o regresso de Berlim, mas parece que passou a voar!

Só agora vejo as fotos e partilho finalmente aqui algumas memórias dessa grandiosa cidade.

Berlim não é grande só em tamanho, está também repleta de história, arte e arquitectura, bairros, praças, jardins e monumentos, mercados, cafés e biergartens.

É uma cidade que passou por muito, mas soube fazer renascer a imponência dos edifícios mais antigos, que co-existem muito bem com a arquitectura mais moderna. É marcadamente urbana, eficiente, de personalidade forte e mais depressa nos convence a admirá-la pelas suas qualidades do que nos faz apaixonar pela sua beleza - mas a verdade é que causa impacto e é difícil esquecê-la.

São imensos os ícones associados a Berlim e vale a pena visitar todos, desde as Portas de Brandemburgo, a Potsdamer Platz, a Alexanderplatz ou à Coluna da Vitória. Mas também é imperdível percorrer a distância e admirar o contraste entre Charlottenburg e Kreuzberg, beber uma cerveja no Café am Neuen See no Tiergarten, perder horas na Ilha dos Museus, reflectir sobre o Holocausto no Museu Judaico e no Memorial, percorrer as ruelas de Nikolaiviertel, ir em Domingo de flea market a Mauerpark, acompanhar o Muro coberto de graffiti na East Side Gallery, conhecer a história e o descampado de Tempelhof.

Em cada esquina nos cruzamos com fragmentos que nos levam à Segunda Guerra Mundial, à Guerra Fria e a um Muro que não caiu assim há tanto tempo - gostava de pensar que tantos monumentos e chamadas de atenção servem para impedir que a História se repita.

Custa a acreditar que tudo isto aconteceu numa cidade que actualmente é tão cheia de vida, contrastes e diversidade.

It's been a month since returning from Berlin, but it seems to have flown by!

Only now I see the photos and share some of these grandiose city.

Berlin is not large only in size, it's also filled with history, art and architecture, neighborhoods, squares, gardens and monuments, markets, cafes and biergartens.

It's a city that has gone through a lot, but knew how to retrieve the grandeur of older buildings, which co-exist very well with the modern architecture. Incredibly urban, efficient, with a strong personality, more quickly convinces us to admire it for its qualities than it makes us fall in love with its beauty - but the truth is that it has an impact and it's difficult to forget it.

The icons associated with Berlin are immense and worth visiting from the Brandenburg Gate to Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz or the Victory Column. But it's also a must to walk the distance and admire the contrast between Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg, to drink a beer in Café am Neuen See in the Tiergarten, to spend hours on Museum Island, to reflect on the Holocaust in the Jewish Museum and Memorial, to walk in the narrow streets of Nikolaiviertel, go on flea market Sunday to Mauerpark, walk along the graffiti-covered Wall at the East Side Gallery, get to know the history and the wasteland of Tempelhof.

In every corner we come across fragments that lead us to World War II, the Cold War and a Wall that has fallen not so long ago - I'd like to think that so many monuments and calls for attention serve to prevent history from repeating itself.

It's hard to believe that all this happened in a city that is now so full of life, contrasts and diversity.

E foi assim mais um fim-de-semana de Workshop no Tincal lab!

Foi altura de receber o Jesse Bert, joalheiro americano que vive no México, que veio partilhar os seus conhecimentos sobre rebites, mecanismos de fecho e reutilização de materiais no Workshop Construção de um Alfinete.

Um formador com uma técnica incrível e um grupo com vontade de experimentar foram os ingredientes perfeitos para um workshop muito inspirador! Aqui ficam algumas fotos, incluindo os quatro alfinetes que resultaram destas 16 horas de aprendizagem e diversão.

And it was another Workshop weekend at Tincal lab!

It was time to receive Jesse Bert, american jeweler living in Mexico, that came to share his knowledge about rivets, closing mechanisms and repurpose of materials in the Workshop Construction of a Brooch.

A jeweler with an incredible technique and a group willing to experiment were the perfect ingredients for a very inspiring workshop! Here are some photos, including the four brooches that resulted from these 16 hours of learning and fun.

Bienal de Cerveira 2018

Vale sempre a pena uma visita à Bienal de Cerveira!

Depois de ter visitado pela primeira vez no ano passado não quero deixar de voltar. Desta vez o evento decorreu excepcionalmente em dois anos consecutivos, em jeito de celebração dos 40 anos.

Imperdível o passeio pela simpática vila onde cada recanto é invadido por novas expressões artísticas, a visita a cada sala do Castelo, com as obras a concurso, e a ida ao Fórum, onde em cada evento é homenageado um novo artista (desta vez Cruzeiro Seixas). Mas são muitos mais os espaços, as performances e eventos, impossível ver tudo num dia.

Desta vez, um pouco por acaso, tivemos a sorte de assistir a uma visita guiada ao Fórum, onde foi um prazer descobrir mais sobre a história da Bienal e a visão de Jaime Isidoro, pintor e galerista português, que acabaria por lhe dar início.

It's always worth a visit to Bienal de Cerveira!

After going for the first time last year, I don't want to miss it again. This time the event took place exceptionally in two consecutive years, in a way to celebrate the 40 years.

Don't miss a walk through the friendly village where each corner is invaded by new artistic expressions, the visit to each room of the Castle, with the works of the contest, and the Forum, where in each event a new artist is honored (this time Cruzeiro Seixas). But there are many more spaces, performances and events, impossible to see everything in one day.

This time, a bit by chance, we were fortunate enough to attend a guided tour of the Forum, where it was a pleasure to find out more about the history of the Bienal and the vision of Jaime Isidoro, a Portuguese painter and gallery owner, who started it.

To visit until September 23rd!
